Getting your microphone to work in Google hangout

Getting your microphone to work in Google hangout

I have Google Hangout. Formally known as Google Talk. My microphone is not working in Google talk.
I Just now found out why my microphone is not working in Google Hangout.
A few months ago I researched why my microphone would not work in Google Hangout. I found out that many thousands of people had the same problem! The also could not get their microphone to work in Google Hangout.
I worked on a solution back a few months ago and found none, and gave up. I had magic Jack, so Google Hangout was not a priority! This time (now) months later my Magic Jack device broke and it would be 4 or 5 days before they sent me a replacement (for free plus shipping) ! Because of this, I was more in need for phone communication, so I was more desperate to find the answer to why my microphone was not working in Google Hangout!
I love Google, I use it for every thing from processing credit cards for my online store, to using G-mail and  I also make money on these blogs I write, when a reader clicks on one of the advertisements on my blog when they are truly interested in the product or service being advertised!

Today the second day of waiting for my Magic Jack to get here, I spent more than 3 hours on trying to get my microphone to work in Google Hangout. I found a solution. Like most of you with this same problem, my microphone works with other applications, like voice recorder on desk top, and voice recognition for my desk top AI desk top mate. The problem remains that my microphone was not working in Google Hangout. In a call I was able to here the other person talk but the other person could not here me talk! I read through discussion board after discussion board and could not find the solution to my microphone problem. Every person's computer setting are different and your microphone problem might be something other than what mine was. Although the solution I am about to give you will most likely solve your microphone problem on Google Hangout, because it is a common problem! I hope it helps you.

First I will tell you that I take no responsibility for any problems or difficulties you may have to this solution. you reading my blog and deciding to go forth with the solution would be your decision and resolve me from and problems that may arise from it.

when a phone call is made with Google Hangout, there is 3 separate  computer ports that are being used for sound on Google Hangout. one for the ringing of an in coming call,  one for  you to be able to hear the other person, and one for the other person to be able to hear you.

Now weather you have an anti virus program installed or not Windows and your computer also has a normal fire wall program built in to windows. this fire wall you need to bring up on your windows desk top some how. if any thing go to (click) start menu, search 'fire" or "fire wall" in the lower white strip on your start menu, and give it a minute to see what list comes up on your start menu. Now look for "fire wall" or "Windows fire wall" click it so the fire wall application comes up. then in the fire wall application window, you will also see a list of programs that are an exception to the fire wall. the ones checked are the exceptions and get to bypass the fire wall, look for Google Hangout. if you don't see it  (I didn't see it on mine) then click ADD exceptions (lower under the list. a new window comes up now with a new list click any and ALL Google things! (Google earth) (Google Chrome) etc. if after clicking the first Google thing as an exception, if the window disappears then redo it by click the (add exceptions button again and click the next Google app. I think you have to click all the Google programs because ( Google Hangout) itself might not be in there its intertwined under another Google application like Google Chrome or some other Google app. Allow the fire wall to have any and all Google apps excepted as an exception to go through the fire wall.
 This should fix it.
The reason this most likely fixes your microphone problem is because the fire wall might be letting one or two of the three ports to go through fire wall but might not let all three ports go through. The fire wall is most likely stopping the Microphone port from bypassing there fore blocking (microphone sound) from going through.

So to summarize. go to Start menu then go to fire wall , then to fire wall settings then check any and all Google applications to be counted as an exception to the fire wall. After your done Remember to click apply to make it stay that way.
Now restart you online browser go to G-mail and click your Google Hangout phone deal and make a call to test it. This should make you're microphone work in Google Hangout.
I hope this helped you. I would be glad to hear your feed back on this! please share your experience with this. post your feed back please ! Post a comment or more advice for people that need help to get their microphone to work in Google Hangout.
